Let me be the first to welcome you to the Powered For Life website! Before I announce the winning entry to the “Name David’s Blog” contest, let me begin by thanking everyone who suggested a name. When the dust
finally settled, we had 2,306 names suggested, far exceeding the PFL team’s expectations! As promised, I reviewed each name, and the creativity of all the entries made it extremely difficult to choose a winner. But in the end I settled on a name that I believe best conveys the purpose for writing the blog, one that captures the roll I hope to play in helping you become Powered For Life.
The goal of the PFL team was to design a website that contributes to the three main aspects of life, the Personal, the Professional, and the Spiritual. To provide you with a quick, easy way to identify which particular piece of content relates to what area, we’ve tagged each article and video with a uniquely colored icon. Sometimes the title of the article or video doesn’t completely tell the whole story of what you’ll read or watch once you click on the link. So, with the help of the icons, you’ll immediately know which aspect of your life the content speaks to.
One thing I encourage you to do immediately is become a member of the website. Why is membership so important? First, as a member, you have access to certain features that non-members don’t. Like access to all the videos, personal email messages from me, the ability to write your own blog and have it published on the PFL website, and more. As Powered For Life continues to grow, we’ll occasionally add new, premium features and aspects that promise to contribute even more to your overall personal growth. Best of all, membership is totally free!
A second reason for you to join comes from the fact that we like to give-away free stuff to our members! Right now, a contest is running, where at any moment we might give-away a free gift. Sometimes these gifts will further enrich one of your life’s aspect areas—the Personal, Professional, or Spiritual. Yet, don’t be surprised if we put a prize up for grabs purely for the fun of it! To discover the next prize we’ll give away, look toward the bottom of the home page.
Remember, only our membership is eligible to win. Once we give a gift away, we immediately replace it with another one and repeat this until all the money drains from our bank account! You never know when we might give away a prize, so register now to increase your chances of winning.
Finally, membership allows you to join a growing community. Communities thrive when they center on a common cause, and since PFL serves as a resource to help you become powered for life, in addition to all the content, your voice contributes to the overall growth of the group. You have a perspective on life that the rest of us haven’t seen or heard, and only when you willingly enter the public square to share your thoughts and ideas will the rest of us benefit. The community needs you, and your commitment to join takes the first step in fulfilling this need.
I mentioned earlier about the opportunity to start a blog or import posts in from an existing one. I’m serious when I say a vibrant community grows when everyone chooses to contribute. Although you may never have written a blog before, I imagine life has written into you many lessons that could fill entry after entry.
In the coming weeks, PFL will offer to the members an opportunity for them to post their blogs. We’ll provide you with a written article that contains a few pointers on what does and does not make a good blog, as well as a video tutorial that visually shows you how to navigate through the set up. Of course, if you already write a blog, and we agree that it fits in with the PFL theme, you’ll receive instructions on how to import your posts into the website as well.
Sometimes, though, you might have something you want to say or just quickly “shout out” to the rest of the community. So, we’ve created what we call the “PFL Water Cooler” where all the community can gather around and shoot the breeze. In those times when you just want to take a quick break from life and share with the PFL community an inspiring thought, or perhaps just read one for yourself, the PFL Water Cooler serves as the place to hang out. Sometimes a quick burst of inspiration needs an immediate outlet to express itself!
Many of you already have clicked the “like” button on my personal Facebook page, as well as the PFL fan page. But if you haven’t, please click the links provided on this website and “like” both pages. We just began a Twitter account for PFL and ask that you follow us, as well as at beliefchangers, which I personally use to tweet about how to communicate better with one another. In the coming days I’ll explain exactly what Beliefchangers is, and how it contributes to the Personal, Professional, and Spiritual aspects of life.
PFL always aims to keep you up-to-date in what’s new to the site, what others are saying about the articles and videos, and quick links to all the content from the PFL contributors. I encourage you to check out these links at the bottom of the home page, and make sure you invest ample time in getting to know each content contributor. And don’t forget to watch my welcome video at the bottom of the page as well.
Now that you have a quick-overview of the website, you can dive in and begin enjoying all the content! But before heading off, let me tell you that the winning entry for the “Name David’s Blog Contest” was submitted by Randy Warren. Randy wins a free iPad, and since the person he submitted as his friend, Cheri Henry, also entered the contest, she too wins an iPad! Congratulations Randy and Cheri!
I chose Randy’s suggestion because the name he entered captured what I hope the blog becomes—a conduit by which power enriched words form into sentences and flow from one person to the next. What better name, then, for my blog than the one Randy submitted: Powerlines.
Okay, just because you didn’t win the iPad doesn’t mean you can’t win one of the other prizes we’re giving away. Unless of course you don’t register and become a Powered For Life member! So first, join PFL and then go ENJOY YOUR WEBSITE!

Congrats Randy!
